Isabel Allende has for many years been of great literary importance to readers worldwide. So it was a proud price committee via Funen Publishing Corporation announced the world press that the Chilean-born author has agreed to receive the Hans Christian Andersen Literature Award 2012 in Odense. Isabel Allende was very excited and receipted by the following words: I received with great joy and pride the news that I was awarded the Hans Christian Andersen Award. This is yet another debt of gratitude I have with Denmark and my loyal Danish readers. I especially cherish this prize because I hope that some of Andersen’s magic will rub on me: he is the master storyteller. His stories shaped my childhood and now, as a writer, they are a source of constant inspiration and amazement. Needless to say how grateful I am for this award!
